Least Favorite Bible Quote

For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

I've seen the above Bible verse shared several times by Christian friends and family on Facebook, apparently posted because they believe it's a good thing. Well, I think I'd be hard pressed to find another verse that so completely captures my beef with religion. Elevating faith as a virtue is dangerous. Teaching our children to believe things that cannot be proven, while ignoring the physical evidence in front of them, is dangerous.

  1. It's really tough to come up with my fave verse. There's just too much genocide and wackiness to choose from.

    1. Good call! This was my least favorite. If I had to choose a favorite, it would probably be Matthew 21:19.

      God hates figs!!

  3. Oh, yeah. Definitely. Maybe it's because I've never really been religious save for a brief period in early adolescent when I was "saved" by a hunky 10th grader, but I just find this idea so incredibly bizarre. I try very hard to accept my religious friends but I spend a lot time feeling pretty mystified by the entire concept when it comes down to how religion affects people's worldviews. It seems a little nuts when you spell it out!
